Cripple Creek&Victor Gold Mine
Valley Leach Facility Expansions ■
Detailed Design for Permitting
NewFields Project No.475.0106.064.
March 2024
Specification will be developed for this work that outlines the allowable fill materials, lift
thickness, and the minimum number of passes required from the mining equipment to achieve
required compaction.Stage B of VLF1 Phase 6 will generally follow existing ground contours with
the exception of cut areas that are needed to facilitate safe and constructable slopes.Stage B will
drain towards the proposed VLF1 Phase 6 PSSA and is the final stage in the VLF Expansions
project.Any historical underground mine workings that are encountered during construction will
be remediated according to the guidelines described in Section 2.3.
4.4. VLF1 Phase 6 Process Solution Storage Area
The VLF1 Phase 6 PSSA is the internal pond in the VLF for solution containment. The VLF1 Phase
6 PSSA consists of the following elements:
Earthen Embankment,
Y Composite Lined Basin,
• High Volume Solution Collection Recovery System.
• The PSSA has a Storage Capacity of 132.8 million gallons,
o Based upon the water balance evaluation, the minimum storage capacity of the
• VLF1 Phase 6 PSSA is 27 million gallons.
➢ An Emergency Spillway, which is 50' wide, 5' deep, has been situated to drain into the
VLF1 Phase 4 PSSA if activated.
The following sections discuss each element of the VLF1 Phase 6 PSSA.
4.4.1. PSSA Embankment
The VLF1 Phase 6 PSSA embankment will be constructed during the Stage A construction of the
VLF1 Phase 6 Expansion. Once constructed, the earthen embankment will provide containment
for the PSSA along the western edge of the expansion.The VLF1 Phase 6 PSSA embankment has
the following dimensions:
• Average embankment height of 120 feet, measured from the downstream toe to the
crest;
The embankment is 1,275 feet long, measured along the crest;
Minimum crest width of 25 feet;
• 2(H):1(V) upstream and downstream slopes.
Prior to the placement of structural fill for the embankment, the footprint will be:
Removal of Crusher equipment and supporting infrastructure,
• Cleared and grubbed to remove unsuitable materials,
I
Page 12
