4. Vegetation
Vegetation on site is typical sparse rangeland shrubs and grasses forthis area. Common
plant species on site include: rabbit brush, sage brush, prickly pear cactus, mountain
mohogany, trumpet plants, juniper, pinyon pine and rangeland grasses. The NRCS non-
irrigated Land Capability Classification of 7e describes the site as composed of soils with
severe limitations, unsuitable for cultivation, and restricted use of grazing, woodland, or
wildlife grazing.
5. Wildlife
Forage and cover for wildlife is sparse and limited due to the arid climate. Small animals
(rabbits, foxes, squirrels, etc...) make use of the surrounding environment. The site is
within range for elk, mule deer, prairie dog, wild turkey, various fox and reptile species.
Impact to wildlife will be mitigated through a weed management plan and re-seeding all
mined areas with native and diverse rangeland seed mix.
