EXHIBIT B SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> 1 . Location and General Land Use Information <br /> The site is located along Colorado State Highway 141 and is composed of and surrounded <br /> by dry rangeland.This site is approximately 35 miles northwest of Naturita.The site is <br /> currently under sub-lease for placer gold mining from Gregg Morrillwho holds a lease from <br /> Weimer Ranches LLLP, the land owner.This site has a previous mining historywith <br /> evidence of depressions and exposed cobble rock in places. <br /> 2. Site Geology <br /> Site geology consists of 0 to 24 inches of topsoil over Quaternary aged alluvium and terrace <br /> gravels. Adjacent cliff faces are composed of Jurassic sediments and include Entrada <br /> sandstone at the base progressively topped by Summerville and Morrison formations. <br /> Mining will occurto a depth of 1 to 20 feet below the present surface. Highly variable thick <br /> overburden is found throughout the site. There are no hazardous or acid forming materials <br /> expected to be encountered during excavation. <br /> 3. Surface Hydrology <br /> Prior to mining, the permit area has a shallow slope to north and west.The exception here <br /> is a shallow depression from previous mining activity. All of the runoff on the undisturbed <br /> site runs north and west toward Colorado State Highway 141 and Dolores River. The <br /> Dolores Riverfloodplain is unmapped in the area and the current river elevation is 35 feet <br /> lower than the lowest area within the active mine site. <br /> Stormwaterwill be kept from entering the site by shallow ditches that surround the site <br /> and the depression from previous mining activity. Stormwater that occurs on site will <br /> remain on site by perimeter ditches and berms. Porous surface of the site will allow <br /> stormwaterto infiltrate the site and pitfloorwithin 72 hours. <br /> Two monitoring and sampling wells are in place on BLM land approximately2,500 feet <br /> north of the site along the Dolores River and have 9 and12 foot depths with static water <br /> level of 8 feet below the ground surface. Therefore, groundwater is expected to be greater <br /> than 45 feet below the lowest point of the active mining area. As the depth of mining is <br /> approximately 20 feet, groundwater is not expected to be encountered during any phase or <br /> stage of mining. No mining will occur beyond the depth where groundwater is <br /> encountered. <br />
