Mr.Joel Renfro
RE: Timnath Connell Pit M-1999-050
April 29, 2025
• All surface areas within the proposed area for release have been vegetated for
stabilization as required to control erosion.
3.1.7 Groundwater
The operator has complied with applicable groundwater quality standards in effect during mining
operations and reclamation activities at the site.
3.1.8 Wildlife
The Timnath Connell Pit is not considered prime wildlife habitat.
• Mining and reclamation activities did not disturb existing wildlife species that require
special consideration on or near the site.
• Wildlife habitat creation was not a part of the reclamation plan.
3.1.9 Topsoiling
Topsoil has not been removed from the areas not disturbed by mining activities. In areas
disturbed by mining activities:
• Topsoil was removed, stockpiled, managed, and replaced within the proposed release
area.
• Following backfilling and prior to revegetation, topsoil was replaced in as even a manner
as possible. The topsoil had been removed in preparation for mining, stockpiled on-site,
and managed to prevent erosion and sediment transport.
3.1.10 Revegetation
The proposed release area has been revegetated with a self-sustaining, native grass seed mix as
described in the pre-amendment permit Timnath Connell Pit permit application. Prior to the 2024
permit amendment, maintenance of the requested release area was to encourage the native grass
growth, so herbicides have not been used and weed control of the area has been restricted to mowing.
The vegetation growth has provided soil stabilization and minimized erosion across the proposed
release area. Active maintenance and mechanical weed control is still being performed in the area for
perennial weeds (i.e. kochia, Russian thistle). However, significant growth of noxious weeds has not
been observed within the area.
3.1.11 Buildings and Structures
There are no buildings within the proposed release area. Structures within the proposed release
area include some utilities associated with the Weitzel Road utility easement. Other structures
include the relocated Box Elder Ditch and associated infrastructure.
3.1.12 Signs and Markers
All mining-related signs and markers have been removed from the proposed area for release.
As a Timnath Connell Pit representative for Connell Resources, Inc., we are satisfied that the
reclamation requirements of the proposed permit release area listed above were met in
Page 3 of 4
