Furthermore, because Milton Reservoir is over a 100-year-old reservoir,we believe that the
sludge being removed from the lake needs to be thoroughly tested for possible toxic
properties. Given the long history of agricultural and industrial activities in the region, there
is a legitimate concern that the sediment may contain harmful contaminants that could
pose environmental and health risks if not properly managed.
We respectfully urge the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety to carefully
evaluate the environmental and community impact of this project before granting any
approvals. We ask that a thorough environmental impact assessment be conducted,
including studies on air quality, noise pollution, traffic safety, and overall public health
risks. Furthermore,we request that community input be considered in the decision-making
process, ensuring that the voices of affected residents are heard and acknowledged.
We appreciate your attention to this matter and would welcome the opportunity to discuss
our concerns further. Please keep us informed of any public meetings or hearings related to
this project.
Additionally,we have attached pictures of the current stockpile of sand near Milton taken
from our backyard to give you some perspective of how close our homes are to the blowing
sand and mining operation.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
111111
Kent and Brenda Lewis
Beebe Draw Farms
r
