Shipping containers shall not be dropped or tossed. Punctured or torn shipping <br /> containers shall be immediately sealed. Trees will not be removed from shipping <br /> containers until needed for planting. Trees will be planted without root or top pruning. If <br /> culling is necessary, or if mold, dry roots, evidence of injury or dying is observed, the <br /> condition will be immediately brought to the attention of the PROJECT MANAGER. <br /> Trees in planting bags or trays shall have only their tops exposed. Trees shall not be <br /> removed from planting bag or cell until immediately before planting. They shall be gently <br /> removed one at a time to prevent injury, and quickly and gently inserted into the planting <br /> hole. <br /> Site Preparation, Spacing, Spot Selection, and Planting Spot <br /> Trees will be placed throughout the site as directed by the PROJECT MANAGER. <br /> PROJECT MANAGER will determine spacing and planting locations during construction. <br /> An open hole, within the planting areas shall be broken out on three (3) sides, and deep <br /> and wide enough to fully accommodate the roots of the tree. The opening of a hole <br /> without breaking it out on three (3) sides is not permitted. The trees will be planted in the <br /> center of the prepared hole, deep enough so that one half inch (1/2") of soil can be <br /> placed on top of the plug, level with the surrounding soil surface, to seal the plug into the <br /> ground. Plug growing media shall not be distorted or broken from the root system during <br /> the planting process. TREES WILL BE WATERERED DIRECTLY AFTER PLANTING. <br /> CONTRACTOR will provide a water tank or truck. Water will be procured from the <br /> adjacent landowner. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this item will be reflected in a lump <br /> sum bid under ITEM 4.0 on the Bid Schedule, and will be made upon completion of work as <br /> completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. The price bid shall include all materials, <br /> labor, equipment, and all other items necessary and incidental to complete the tasks described <br /> in ITEM 4.0. <br /> PROJECT OBSERVATION <br /> The PROJECT MANAGER will be at the project site periodically to monitor construction <br /> activities and ensure that each work item is completed and constructed to design <br /> specifications. The PROJECT MANAGER will be available during regular business hours <br /> (8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.) on weekdays. Inspections will not be scheduled on weekend <br /> days or holidays without prior approval of the PROJECT MANAGER. It is the <br /> CONTRACTOR's responsibility to schedule inspections with the Project Manager so as <br /> not to delay the work. The following items must be observed and approved by the <br /> PROJECT MANAGER before proceeding with additional work: <br /> 1. Depth of holes for trees prior to planting <br /> The attached Bid Schedule form must be submitted. Award will be made to the apparent <br /> low bidder if the low quote is within the project budget estimate, and if the CONTRACTOR'S <br /> Page 9 of 10 <br /> Rev.01/31/2024 <br />
