III
M-2001-001 Line Camp Pit Amendment#2 (Expansion)
c. Statement on explosive use and impact on off-site areas/features. No explosives to be used.
d. Roads (6.3.3.(g)): Maintain access road to SH-145 and internal access roads to all ponds, areas
being reclaimed, and for access to USFS lands to the east. See Exhibit E. Access off SH-145
intended to be permanent, post-reclamation feature) existing, during and after mining and
reclamation:
i. Dimensions: As done in 2003 (per county/CDOT specifications)
ii. Improvements: None: maintenance only.
iii. Specifications: Per Montezuma County road standards at time of reclamation, including
emergency response access.
iv. Exemptions to State requirements: None requested.
v. Associated feature specifications (e.g., drainage structures): see Exhibit E.
6. General Notes:
a. Soil/Plant growth medium (6.3.3.(b))tasks: A minimum of 4-5 inches of soil (A horizon) will be
stripped and stockpiled in berms (see maps). Some may be moved directly to previously affected
and graded areas for reapplication.
b. Salvage an estimated 650 CY (in-place) soil from each acre. It is very likely that soils must be
screened to remove larger stones, before stockpiling/reapplication, resulting in only 600 CY
salvaged soil. Based on anticipated pond size, preserve approximately 40%for reclamation.
c. Construct stockpiles/berms with swales or silt fencing at the exterior toe:
i. Protect soil by compacting to not more than 70% modified Proctor density(using field
estimation).
ii. Seed immediately(for stabilization) after application of erosion control polymers (if any),
usually within seven days of completion of a stockpile or section. Broadcast seeding rates
(seed available from Southwest Seed, Cortez):
Slender wheatgrass (var. Pryor) 8.25 lb/acre
Sanfoin (var. Remont) 12.50 lb/acre
Annual rye (nurse crop) 1.50 lb/acres
d. Follow up, if desired, by watering to establish the stand, using irrigation from Home Ditch.
e. Use standard agricultural weed control for the crop, coordinating with County Pest Control.
7. Overburden, waste rock, and deposit characteristics(6.3.3.(c) & (d)): Little overburden is
anticipated. Excavate all rock and use as pitrun or product: screen fines and wash materials. Use
fines not shipped from site as backfill and subgrade below soil for final slopes.
8. Components not already addressed (6.3.3.(e)): use standard 3-strand barbed wire or electrical
fencing to keep livestock out of pit, if needed. Post warning signs on east side of property bounding
National Forest System lands. Other than the scalehouse, install no temporary or permanent
buildings, including no shop or maintenance buildings. Use trailers/containers if needed for
minimum equipment maintenance.
9. Dimensions of disturbances (6.3.3.(f)): No buffer zone is planned within the permit boundaries.
(Buffer zones exist between the permit boundary and the parcel boundaries. Berms along the west
edge will be placed to protect the Home Ditch.
10. Water use (6.3.3.(h)): Control dust(traffic areas, crushing and screening) and wash product. Pitrun
material is expected to be moist to wet when excavated and processed, and water consumption is
estimated at 10 gallons per ton of production, about 1 acre-foot per year), including product
' Seed available from Southwest Seed, Cortez, CO.
5182-22-001 WASTE ELINE, INC.
