M-2023-043
Seeley Reservoir Stockpiles
There are no water diversions associated with the stockpile areas.
Water
Water trucks were used for dust suppression along haul roads to prevent nuisance conditions. As
the removal of water from the materials is needed, water needs are expected to be minimal.
The stockpiles are not expected to encounter groundwater as they are not being set below grade.
Removal of the materials is occurring from surface water.A sediment basin has been engineered
to filter water from the southern stockpile area to prevent the migration of sediment off-site. No
additional treatment measures are expected for the operation.
Removal of the sediment is required to maintain the reservoirs required water allotment to their
shareholders. The nearest body of water for the stockpile areas is Seeley Reservoir and flows are
expected to go towards the reservoir.
Waste Handling
Waste materials are not expected to be found in the stockpile areas. Trash and debris was
collected and removed from the site and the stockpiled materials daily. No toxic or acid-based
materials are expected to be found in the stockpile areas. No chemicals are being used in the
operations. Should these materials be found, they will be disposed of in an appropriate manner
and not stored on the property.
Hydrology
For the southern stockpile site, a sediment basin has been engineered to capture water and filter
sediment before being released. The stockpile area to the north is relatively flat with water flows
expected to go east towards Seeley Reservoir. The stockpiles are not expected to de-stabilize the
underlying land. Once the stockpile material has been removed from the area, the site will be re-
graded to pre-disturbance grade. The agricultural fields will either have a crop planted, a cover
crop may be required or be re-seeded using an approved seed approved by Weld County.
Character of the Resources and Intended Uses
The primary commodity removed from the Seeley Reservoir is sediment and sludge containing
organic material and debris from the reservoir.
Likely uses for the material will be disposal to a landfill or land application to incorporate in
topsoil.
There are no secondary commodities or incidental products.
