6.5 Geotechnical Stability Exhibit
(updated 2024-10-25)
6.5 (1) The proposed permitted mining site is located on a flat bench created by previous
mining operations over a century old and does not contain nor proposed to construct any
geological hazards that have any potential to cause damage or loss of property or life. The
slopes and grades of the access road and existing waste rock piles also created by
previous mining operations over a century old and does not contain nor proposed to
construct any geological hazards that have any potential to cause damage or loss of
property or life.
6.5 (2)The proposed reclamation plan Exhibit D for the proposed permitted mining area
does not propose any reclaimed slopes, highwalls, waste piles, embankments, or changes
to the existing topography that would require an engineering stability analysis. There are
no ore leaching or processing facilities at the proposed permitted mine area.
6.5 (3) The proposed mining plan Exhibit C for the proposed Permitted mining area does
not propose any surface changes to the existing geological structures that would have any
off-site impacts. The proposed mining plan does not propose significant changes to the
current mining plan that has been in place for 30 years and has not created any off-site
impacts to date.
6.5 (4)The existing approved mining operation does allow and has historically included
blasting underground in its mining operations and has not impacted any surface structures
or created noticeable vibrations on the surface. The proposed mining plan Exhibit C
includes the limited use of Explosives as needed. No damage to any on or off-site areas
will occur from blasting operations. Blasting will be low intensity and standard blasting
practices and safety procedures will be strictly followed.
Compromise Mine- File No. M-2024-046:
Notice of Incomplete- Response to item #4
4. Since the proposed mining plan includes blasting, Rule 6.3.3(I)(o)requires that the
application include a Geotechnical Stability Exhibit which demonstrates, in accordance with
Rule 6.5(4),that off-site areas will not be adversely affected by blasting during mining or
reclamation operations.
Please provide a revised version of the Geotechnical Stability Exhibit, with a
demonstration "through appropriate blasting,vibration,geotechnical,and structural
engineering analyses, that off-site areas will not be adversely affected by blasting".
These analyses should be certified by a professional engineer.
History of Existing Blasting practices: under State Permit P1992020 dated 7/15/1992
and USFS Operating plan dated 7/16/1985- The Compromise mine has been in operation
