M-1989-084 Oak Creek Pit Technical Revision to Reclamation Plan
RE: Change in location of plantable media stockpile from original location along north boundary
to near the center of the permit area in the vicinity of 38.29306 degrees N and 105.29310
degrees W. The stockpile will be constructed as an elongate low berm of soil trending south
along the present fence line that crosses the permit area N-S. The plantable media berms are
not likely to exceed 10' in height and a base width of 50'. The plantable media berm described
above (phase 1 plantable media berm) will be used to reclaim areas to the east of it's location.
The plantable media berm designated as phase 2 which will be located along the western side
of the mine, will be used at the end of the mine life. The piles will be graded to maximum slope
of 3:1 (H:V) and seed mix applied for erosion control. Stockpile revegetation may entail a few
species from the approved seed mix, primarily wheat and grama grasses, or the mine operator
may plant an annual cover crop such as oats or barley.
Long Range Reclamation Plan Goals
1) The drainage control ditch located along the north border of the permit area will remain
in place for life of the mine. The ditch directs off-site surface flows entering the permit
area from the northeast. The drainage pattern can be seen on the google map photo
trending east to west near the north permit boundary line. Surface run-off appears to
disperse in the northwest corner of the permit area before reaching Access Road 6227.
2) The community use area (mail boxes and trash dumpsters) in the NW corner of the
permit area will remain after mining at the discretion of the of the land owner.
No changes are proposed regarding reclamation process and procedures as described in the
original permit. Once final grades are established at not exceed 3:1 (H:V), topsoil (growth
medium) will be applied to depth of 4-6". The approved seed mix will be used for final
revegetation efforts.
