Big Bull Dog Trucking, Inc. . Adequacy Response#1
Soward Ranch Gravel Pit - M-1988-021 September 9, 2024
fully reclaimed parts of the mine in the past so is not will-
ing to change it . Introducing brush, on land he does not
control, is not something he wants to do to the range. Thank
you for the suggestion.
4. Please commit to providing the Division with a copy of the amended Special Use
Permit in Mineral County when approved.
I met with Ms . Janelle Kukuk the Mineral County, County Adminis-
trator and Land Use Administrator prior to permitting to explain
what changes were planned. She said the existing Special Use
Permit covered the entire parcel so no additional permitting was
needed with the County. I committed to providing the DRMS
conversion and amendment permit packet when we filed it . Mr.
Riggs delivered said packet and Ms . Kukuk did not require any-
thing else. If this changes Big Bull Dog Trucking, Inc, will
provide a copy of the revised Special Use Permit to the Division.
Additional Information:
Hard copies of the adjoining mailing notice return receipts or
USPS proof of delivery to the address of record are attached.
A copy of the Proof of Publication in the Mineral County
Miner, Mineral County' s official notice paper is included for
the file. E-copies of these items were supplied in August
2024 and I promised to supply the hard copies with the ade-
quacy response.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife
I wish to thank Officer Basagoitia for the time he took to
supply information in his letter of July 30, 2024 . This is the
same information he provided us and is included in Exhibit H.
We addressed his 3 primary points regarding the river setback,
the winter range and the weed control in the application. We
believe the explanation we provided in Exhibit H addresses his
comments but respectfully remind the CPW that mining has take
place on this property since 1988 .
With respect of Big Game winter range impacts are minimal
since most of the mining activity takes place from late spring
to early fall . This involves mining, processing and stockpil-
ing material for use during the rest of the year. Over the
winter months activities at the mine are limited to daytime
removal of stockpile materials on a limited basis and in the
past has not disrupted big game using the property. No new
fencing will be installed as Big Bull Dog Trucking does not
own the property.
Staying 500 feet from the river is not practical or necessary
in this case. The river is 225 feet from and 40 ft lower then
the mine area at it' s closest point . The floor of the mine
will not be daylighted out the north and west side of the
Environment, Inc. Page 2
