The overburden (to
include plant growth material) is from zero inches to twenty inches deep, dependent
upon the particular soil unit. The area within soils unit CyF will be mined to a depth
of+19 inches. In soils unit Fo,the soils report states the mineable resource is from
approximately twenty inches deep to a depth of sixty inches. (Since this is based on a
soil survey, the actual depth of the resource within a soils unit is expected to vary.)
We intend to extract all available resources within a soil unit within the approved
permit boundary.
Given the location of the proposed mining operation, i.e., at the top of a plateau, no
ground water should be encountered. However, in the event ground water is
encountered, the location will not be further mined, and the location backfilled to at
least two feet above the prevailing ground water elevation.
The types of overburden/soil are cobbly loam, sandy loam, loam, clay loam, and clay,
based on the soils report.
(ii) Nature of the stratum immediately beneath the material to be mined in
sedimentary deposits:
Based on the soils report, it appears the stratum immediately beneath the material to
be mined in soil unit CyF is native bedrock. We assume the remaining areas where
mining is planned, (soil unit Fo),the underlying parent material will also be native
bedrock. (Please note the location of the soil unit boundaries are estimates and the
actual area mined based on a soil unit, will vary.)
17
