MINING PLAN EXHIBIT C (cont)
the mine floor for use in reclamation. The operator will replace
as much topsoil as salvaged, but this may be only enough to
replace an average of 4 to 6 inches on the disturbed area. If
the soil stockpiles remain undisturbed for more than one growing
season a cover crop of Western Wheatgrass will be planted at a
rate of 3 . 0 lbs pls/200 Ft2.
As mining progresses into the deposit, the working face will
be mined near vertical and will not exceed 550 feet long nor 40
feet high. The exterior slopes will be mined 3h to lv as mining
reaches the mining limits . Resoiling and shaping will run
concurrent with mining so that if mining ended prematurely only
the working face and floor would need grading and resoiling.
Of the 9. 90 acres ± in the permit area, approximately 8 . 67
acres ± will be mined, 1 .23 acres ± will be setbacks around the
mined area or access road. These setbacks are shown on the Map
Exhibits and are 15 feet wide where the mine abuts the Zuege' s
land and 25 feet adjacent to adjoining owner property. They will
be used as growth medium storage areas . This will leave a 25+
foot deep hole in the surrounding land with a gently sloping
floor as shown on the Reclamation Plan Map-Exhibit E-3.
Gravel processing may take place on the mine but in most
cases the material will be hauled offsite as pit run material for
use on projects in the vicinity.
This mine will operate intermittently so when mining ends
the working face will be temporarily graded 2 : 1 so it is stable
during the inactive time period. The Reclamation Map shows the depth
as 25 feet but it is believed the deposit may be deeper so the
final floor may be deeper than shown. If this happens, a Techni-
cal Revision will be filed to change the final depth.
The material will be used to supply construction aggregates
including road base and pit-run material for use on the land and
for sale to other parties . The land will remain rangeland as
mining progresses and once reclamation is complete the area will
be reseeded so it will have the same use as now exists .
The mine will be sloped so all surface water runoff can be
contained on the site until reclamation is complete. The nature
of the material will allow any surface accumulations of water to
soak into the ground. All stormwater on the site will be di-
rected into the active mine area and there will be no discharge
or impounding of water for more then 72 hours .
Zuege Mine, LLC Zuege Pit
June 11, 2024 17
