<br /> A representative pedon of this soil occurs on a 38 percent northeast facing slope at 11,680 feet
<br /> elevation located in the SW 1/4, NW 1/4, sec. 5 , T. 8 S., R. 89 W., in Eagle County, Colorado
<br /> supporting a kobresia/golden avens plant association.
<br /> Al -- 0 to 7 inches; (10YR 5/2)very stony loam, (10YR 3/2) moist; weak fine subangular blocky
<br /> structure parting to weak fine granular; very friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; many fine and very
<br /> fine and few medium roots; many fine interstitial pores; 45 percent subangular sandstone
<br /> rock fragments; moderately acid; clear smooth boundary.
<br /> Bw-- 7 to 16 inches; (5YR 7/4)very cobbly sandy clay loam, (5YR 5/4) moist; moderate fine and
<br /> medium subangular blocky structure; friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common fine and very
<br /> fine roots; many fine and very fine interstitial pores; 57 percent subangular sandstone rock
<br /> fragments; moderately acid; abrupt smooth boundary.

<br /> A representative pedon of this soil is located in the SW 1/4, SE 1/4, sec. 32, T. 5 S., R. 76 W., in
<br /> Clear Creek County, Colorado. The Leighcan Series is classified as loamy-skeletal, mixed
<br /> Dystric Cryochrepts.
<br /> Oi --2 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches; slightly decomposed conifer litter consisting of needles, twigs, moss,
<br /> and remains of understory plants.
<br /> Oe -- 1 1/2 to 0 inches; partially decomposed litter (duff).
<br /> A-- 0 to 1 inch; very dark grayish brown (10YR 3/2) very stony loam; weak medium subangular
<br /> blocky parting to fine granular structure; soft, very friable, slightly sticky, non-plastic; common
<br /> fine, medium, and coarse roots; many fine interstitial pores; 5 percent gravel, 10 percent
<br /> cobble, 25 percent stone; medium acid (pH 5.6); clear smooth boundary.
