Permit M-1977-493—Climax Mine Technical Revision 37 (TR-37) <br /> Bwl -- 30 to 39 inches; red (2.5YR 4/6) extremely gravelly sandy loam, dark red (2.5YR 3/6) <br /> crushed moist; moderate medium angular blocky structure; hard, friable, nonsticky, <br /> nonplastic; few fine to coarse roots; common very fine and fine interstitial pores; 67 percent <br /> subangular sandstone rock fragments; strongly acid; clear wavy boundary. <br /> Bw2 -- 39 to 57 inches; red (2.5YR 5/6) cobbly sandy loam, red (2.5YR 4/6) crushed moist; <br /> moderate medium subangular blocky structure; hard, friable, nonsticky, nonplastic; common <br /> fine and medium roots; common very fine and fine tubular pores; few faint clay films on faces <br /> of peds and in pores; 75 percent subangular sandstone rock fragments; moderately acid; <br /> clear wavy boundary. <br /> Bw3 -- 57 to 72 inches; red (2.5YR 5/6) extremely cobbly sandy clay loam, red (2.5YR 4/6) <br /> crushed moist; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; very hard, firm, nonsticky, <br /> nonplastic; common faint clay films on faces of peds and in pores; common very fine and fine <br /> and common medium roots; common very fine and fine tubular pores; 75 percent subangular <br /> sandstone rock fragments; strongly acid. <br /> Soil depth to bedrock is greater than 40 inches. The reaction of the soil is medium acid <br /> to neutral. <br /> The A horizon has hue of 10YR or 7.5YR, value of 3 to 5 dry, and 2 or 3 moist, and <br /> chroma of 1 to 4. The texture of the fine earth fraction is loam. The soil has 30 to 65 <br /> percent rock fragments. <br /> The E horizon, where present, has hue of 10YR, value of 6 or 7 dry, and 5 moist, and <br /> chroma of 3 to 4. The texture of the fine earth fraction is sandy loam. The soil has 40 <br /> percent rock fragments. <br /> The Bw horizon has hue of 10YR or 7.5YR, value of 5 or 6 dry, and 3 to 5 moist, and <br /> chroma of 3 to 6. The texture of the fine earth fraction is sandy loam or loam.
