Wildlife
Current wildlife conditions and potential impacts are described in Exhibit H, Wildlife
Information.
Water—General Requirement
To minimize the effect on the prevailing hydrologic balance, the operator shall:
a. Comply with all applicable Colorado water laws.
b. Comply with all applicable Federal and State water quality laws and regulations.
c. Comply with all Federal and State requirements for dredge and fill.
d. Perform all work to minimize erosion and sediment transport.
Current water resource conditions and potential surface water and groundwater impacts are
described in Exhibit G,Water Information.
Groundwater—Specific Requirements
Current water use in the proposed Timnath Connell Pit amendment area includes evaporative
losses from recharge ponds, dewatering trenches, and dust control. Groundwater is also affected
by dewatering operations at the Timnath Connell Pit by creating lag depletions from the Cache la
Poudre River alluvial aquifer. Replacement of depletions at the site are, and will continue to be,
made via delivery of leased Box Elder Ditch Company shares to the recharge ponds.
A Substitute Water Supply Plan (SWSP) for the replacement of stream depletions associated
with mining operations is currently, and will continue to be, maintained through the SEO.
Additionally, a well permit for exposed groundwater in the proposed permit area has been
obtained from the SEO. Potential impacts from mining in the proposed permit area are described
in Exhibit G, Water Information.
The mining and reclamation operation will not affect groundwater quality on or off the site. The
operation will comply with State groundwater quality standards. Groundwater quality
monitoring is not required for the current Timnath Connell Pit operation and is not proposed for
the amendment.
Buildings and Structures
There are no existing, permanent buildings or structures in the proposed permit area and no
structures will be left following reclamation.
Signs and Markers
If not already in place, permit notification signs will be placed and maintained at the entrance to
the operation. The permit boundary will be identified where it is not already identified by fences
or suitable markers. All signs and markers will be removed upon permit release.
Timnath Connell Pit
DRMS 112 Permit Amendment Application Page 15
