DECISION <br /> It is my decision to authorize the Proposed Action as described in the attached EA. The proposal <br /> is to receive a mineral materials contract for 100,000 tons annually for 10 years with an option to <br /> renew. The proposed action involves mineral materials reserves resulting in an additive mine life <br /> of approximately 84 years. <br /> The proposed operation is located on split estate with surface estate owned by the operator and <br /> federal estate managed by BLM. The operation is located on Highway 150 9 miles south of the <br /> Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve and 22 miles northeast of Alamosa, Colorado. The <br /> disposal consists of a total of 243.7 acres to be phased as 40 acres of disturbance with concurrent <br /> reclamation. The expansion cells are located adjacent to the operator's private pit. The location is <br /> within the Rural zoning district of Alamosa County. <br /> Mining is proposed to commence in 2024 to remove materials from previously disturbed parcel. <br /> Access will be granted via current Right of Way through BLM surface estate east of Highway 150. <br /> 2. Land Use Plan Conformance <br /> The Proposed Action is subject to and is in conformance (43 CFR 1610.5)with the following <br /> land use plan: <br /> Land Use Plan: The San Luis Resource Area Resource Management Plan <br /> Date Approved: December 18, 1991 <br /> Decision Number/Page: 1-4,pg. 13 <br /> Decision Language: Federal mineral estate will be open on 486,240 acres and will be available <br /> for disposal or mineral materials except in riparian zones. <br /> 3.
