This form is not intended for reporting of possible violations or illegal activity. Please be as specific
as possible.
Comment/Objection Narrative *
Sensational - Rather than sensational homeowners playing on environmental heart strings, check the facts and
trust experts. Care of health, safety, and welfare is a job for experts, not amateurs. Any business doesn't last
when they harm others. Starting with the Penn Group, my hope is that this mill keeps going and reclaims other
mine waste piles that can overflow into our drinking water, or are just plain hideous. CJK will leave more trails
and gladded skiing for us. Recent letters spoke of kids and dogs being run over by huge water trucks on
Harrison - what a bunch of 'smoke.' Parkville has plenty of service in Stringtown. The alarmists use the 'Merlot
pond' by the MBT cribbing as more smoke. I have 'hugged some trees' and firmly believe NaCN is not 'dooms
day' contamination.
Carbonous Nitrogen NaCN (Cyanide) chemistry is way 'over my head.' It will be contained. Steel tanks and
pond liners with backup, really work. Monitoring wells are reliable. This site has ample space to safeguard
against overflow. Poor management and engineering is the reason for environmental disasters. This Mill will be
highly regulated by Colorado State scientists and Federal Guidelines. It will be operated by certified local
experts. Like all referral agencies in the Conditional Use process, the State is our reference agency. NaCN
goes away (hydrolyzed) in seconds, in sunlight. The chemical mineral extraction process is common at Climax
& Asarco Mines - the top of the Arkansas River, Eagle River, Ten Mile Creek and Iowa Gulch (Asarco). A
massive sand tailings pile is here beside East 5th Street, Hamm's Mill - certified safe. EPA simple revegetation
spec. is erosion grading, organics and seed - it is benign. It is the same by-product as the CJK facility.
Mines and CIVIC have allowed my family to live here. Their taxes have given this county life as long as I can
remember. I paid for college with great summer jobs & scholarships. Do not allow NIMBY residents to restrict
metal extraction. This spot is the right place for it to be done successfully. CJK will be another fine model of the
industry.
Domestic Water Planning - As town grows, like this place just did, we expand essential municipal services
(water and sewer) with contiguous/adjacent growth - the developer pays. We must plan ahead rather than 'kick
the can down the road.' The County government allows residential in Ag. Forest zones beside IM - not a
conditional use that should require domestic water vs. wells. Strike a deal now to expand Parkville water west.
Define and require easements for service lines. Begin saving money for that real growth. Promote home density
