West Valley Coal Refuse Facility. Pond D has been reclaimed. Pond E <br /> controls sediment from the 11 West Coal Refuse Facility. Pond F controls <br /> sediment from the Hubbard Creek Fansite. Substation #3 pond controls the <br /> sediment from the Sanborn Creek Fansite. Hubbard Creek Pond controls <br /> sediment from the Upper Hubbard Creek facilities area and the East Yard <br /> Pond controls sediment from the east yard of the Elk Creek facilities yard. <br /> One additional pond was approved for treatment of underground discharge <br /> from the Sanborn Creek portals and will be retained for use with the water <br /> treatment plant for the town of Somerset. Specific plans are found within <br /> section 6 of Exhibit 2.05-E3 in the PAP, (Vol. 10). All ponds are designed in <br /> compliance with Rule 4.05.6. <br /> E. Acid-forming and Toxic-forming Spoil <br /> 1. There is no evidence of acid- or toxic-forming material at this site. <br /> F. Impoundments <br /> Refer to Section D, Sedimentation Ponds, above. <br /> G. Surface and Ground Water Monitoring <br /> 1. The applicant will conduct monitoring of ground water in a manner approved <br /> by the Division. The ground water monitoring plan is specified on Page 2.04- <br /> 41of the PAP [4.05.13(1)]. <br /> 2. The applicant will conduct monitoring of surface water in a manner approved <br /> by the Division. The monitoring plan was submitted under 2.05.6(3)(b)(iv) <br /> and as specified on page 2.05-46iii of the PAP [4.05.13(2)]. <br /> H. Discharge of Water into an Underground Mine <br /> 1. The Division approved the transfer of mine water from the Elk Creek D seam <br /> workings to the abandoned Somerset B seam workings. Initially, a water <br /> transfer well was approved in TR-47 to the Somerset C seam working, but a <br /> coal seam rib was encountered. The drill hole was extended to the B seam in <br /> TR-50. The volume of transferred water, pH and total suspended solids are <br /> reported each year in the annual hydrology report. The well is located in the <br /> Elk Creek facilities area and is known as well D2B. <br /> 2. The Division approved a second mine water transfer well from the Elk Creek <br /> D seam workings to the abandoned Somerset B seam workings in TR-51. The <br /> volume of transferred water, pH and total suspended solids are reported each <br /> year in the annual hydrology report. The well is located at the Hubbard Creek <br /> Fansite area and is known as well 132132. <br /> 25 <br />
