• therefore, the seeding will be completed just prior to the season
when the probability of moisture is at its greatest.
All road access road embankments will be stabilized by seeding the
roughened surface immediately after construction and regrading.
For long-term stability, the embankments or cut slopes will be
seeded with a mixture of the perennial grasses shown in Table 2,
Proposed Seed Mixture - Cuts and Fill Slopes. These areas will be
mechanically stabilized by surface treatment and mulch, if
necessary, with approximately 2,000 pounds of native grass hay or
straw mulch per acre.
Planting and Seedin Methods
Following the preparation of the seedbed, the facilities area will
be seeded with a perennial mixture as shown in Table 1, Proposed
Seed Mixture. On steeper slopes, seed will be broadcast seeded at
twice the drill seed rate. Dependent on availability of equipment
and labor, hydroseeding methods may be utilized. On level areas,
all seed will be drill seeded with a heavy duty rangeland drill
• pulled by a rubber tired farm tractor or small crawler dozer. Seed
covering on areas broadcast seeded will be accomplished by chisel
plowing or harrowing where possible.
Removal of Surface Structures, Embankments, and Tmaoundments
All embankments and impoundments will be completely removed and
reclaimed after the termination of the loadout activities. The
sedimentation pond and diversions will not be removed until the
affected area has been restored and vegetation reestablished such
that the quality of the surface runoff meets the applicable NPDES
effluent requirements. Interim drainage and sediment control
measures will be implemented during this time. The plan for
interim drainage and sediment control is presented on Map 10A,
Interim Drainage and Sediment Control. Upon removal of the
sediment pond and diversion ditches, the small areas affected by
the pond and diversions will be regraded and revegetated as
described in the grading and revegetation sections.
• 2.05-11
Rev. 05-27-93
