The Horolls <br />make up about SS percent of this cat~lex and occupy lesser slopes. The rock <br />outcrop part makes up about 35 p<rcent of this canplex and occupies steeper <br />slopes and ridgetops. <br />TY~e Borolls are shallow to deep, medium to fine textured. well drained <br />soils over interbedded sandstone and shale at a depth of 10 to 60 inches. <br />They may be cobble or stone filled. <br />;~ <br />The BornLl porticsi has moderate to rapid permeability and the available <br />water ca*+acity ranges from low to high. The effective rooting 3epth is from 10 '~ <br />to 60 inches or more. Rock Outcrops make up 40 percent of the unit and are on. vertical ledges, <br />ridgetops and steeper side slopes. <br />Torriorthents are coarse and medium textured stony and cobbly well drained soils <br />over sandstone and shale at 10 to 40 inches, Pock Out¢op is predaninantly sand- <br />stone in narrow bands with oolluvial stones and boulders at the base. <br />-18- <br />
