ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL REVISION NARRATIVE
As described in the Mining Plan of Conversion#001 (CN-001) for the Stocks Clay Mine,
as approved on October 10, 1994, the mine is to be a phased operation with the 280 acre mine
constituting a major clay deposit. The attached Exhibit C —Mining Map updates and clarifies
the proposed future phases and areas of Affected Land. The proposed Affected Land areas do
not interfere with major surface drainageways and will maintain historic drainage patterns, in
compliance with CN-001.
The phasing and boundaries shown in the updated Exhibit C —Mining Map are
preliminary only. As stated in the CN-001 Mining Plan, this pit has been mined since the 1920's
and was originally an underground operation. The exact location and extent of the underground
mining that occurred is not fully known. Therefore, the final sequence and exact boundary of
each Affected Land area will be finalized after future drilling and field explorations are
completed. The operator will notify the DRMS of any changes in sequencing or Affected Land
boundaries via future Technical Revisions. Additionally, moving forward, the operator will
notify the DRMS of beginning to disturb land in a new phase of Affected Land area prior to any
disturbances occurring. This will also be completed via future Technical Revisions.
In addition, the permit is being revised through a technical revision to increase the
allowable disturbed acreage to a maximum of 35.0 acres at any one time. This is so that the next
phase of Affected Land area can begin to be drilled and explored while the current phase is still
being mined. Additionally, this will allow the next phase of Affected Land area to be mined
while a previous phase is being reclaimed but is not yet released.
The operator would like to provide notice to the DRMS that we will begin to disturb land
in Phase 2 of the Affected Land area. This will allow us to complete drilling to refine our mining
plan in this phase and to eventually continue mining north from Phase 1 into Phase 2.
Any increase in required financial warranty will be submitted in accordance with permit
requirements. All other sections and requirements of the Mining Plan and Reclamation Plan of
CN-001 are to remain unchanged.
