Sedgwick County Road and Bridge Gravel Pit Page 17
112(c) Operation Reclamation Permit February 25, 2024
Using the Rangeland Carrying Capacity map from Colorado state University and input from the
NRCS soil survey, assuming a 25%consumption rate and a 90%edible rate, the carrying capacity
of the rangeland in the permit site is estimated at 1300 lbs/acre/year.
Before mining operations, the soil in the permit area have been sufficient to provide enough
vegetation for a healthy ecosystem. This topsoil will be removed during initial mining and saved
in stockpiles for reclamation. Since the same soil will be used as is currently naturally available
and it will be stored such that there will be minimal loss in soil quality (Section 3.5) it is assumed
the soil will be sufficient to support the same ecology. To ensure this the operator may wish to test
stockpiles of topsoil for revegetation suitability. Fertilizer may be added during hydromulching.
10.0 EXHIBIT I–Soils Information
In the NRCS soil survey, the area around the site consists of one soil classification. Information on
this soil is shown below.
