The following clarifications and <br /> amendments should be noted and incorporated into the bid documents: <br /> 1. ITEM 3.0: An additional feature has been added to this Bid Item. <br /> Feature ID: 559 <br /> Type of Feature: Shaft <br /> Const. Dimensions: 45ft by 45ft <br /> Depth of Opening: 100'+ <br /> Depth to Bedrock: 20ft <br /> Shape of Opening: Irregular <br /> Drainage Present: No <br /> Closure Method: Temporary Safety Fence <br /> Work Description: A temporary safety fence will be constructed around the opening <br /> of the shaft. The safety fencing shall be a minimum of four (4) feet in height with a <br /> mesh size of two-inch by two-inch (2"x2") constructed of HDPE with a minimum <br /> breaking strength of 90lbs or approved equivalent. Fencing must be green or brown in <br /> color. Orange fencing is not permitted. Fence posts shall be steel such as T-posts, U- <br /> channel or similar and installed to a minimum depth of eight (8) inches. Safety fence <br /> must be constructed at least five (5) feet away from the edge of the opening around <br /> the entire perimeter with a maximum post spacing of ten (10) feet. Fencing shall be <br /> secured to the posts with a minimum of four (4) suitable fasteners. Completed safety <br /> fence must be taut around the entire perimeter with no more than six (6) inches <br /> between the bottom of the fence and the ground surface in any one location. Up to two <br /> hundred (200) linear feet of fencing and twenty (20) fence posts will be required for <br /> this closure. <br /> Access to feature 559 will be through designated routes only. Only rubber-tracked or <br /> wheeled equipment are permitted on the bike path unless the asphalt surface is <br /> adequately protected from damage. Any damage to the bike path will be repaired at <br /> the expense of the CONTRACTOR.
