Biological hazards may include insect stings (e.g., bees and wasps), snakes (e.g., western <br /> diamond back rattlesnakes, bull snakes), poisonous insects (black widow spiders, brown <br /> recluse), Hanta virus, Lyme disease, and/or wildlife bites. Areas of accumulated animal <br /> or bird droppings should be avoided. If work is required in such areas, sanitize animal <br /> fecal matter and animal carcasses with bleach solution and clean and containerize before <br /> 10 <br /> performing any other work. Wear appropriate PPE. Avoid contact with snakes, spiders, <br /> and insects. Use insect repellant. Cover exposed skin to prevent insect bites. During <br /> months when snakes are active, wear shake chaps in areas where debris and tall grass <br /> have not been removed. <br /> 3.1 COVID 19 REQUIREMENTS <br /> Due to the rise in Coronavirus cases in 2020 extra protection should be taken to <br /> protect workers, employers and the public. To further help protect everyone and <br /> reduce the spread the following actions will be taken on the job site. <br /> • Site safety officer will conduct daily health checks <br /> • Employees shall notify safety officer if they feel sick or show any signs of illness <br /> • Workers shall stay home if sick <br /> • Provide soap and water to wash hands if possible or provide hand sanitizer <br /> containing at least 60% alcohol <br /> • Employees need to wear face coverings when possible <br /> • Maintain 6 feet of separation when possible <br /> • Minimize sharing of phones,work tools and equipment <br /> • Maintain regular housekeeping practices, including routine cleaning and <br /> disinfecting surfaces and equipment <br /> 4.0 EMPLOYEE TRAINING <br /> All employees working onsite who are exposed to hazardous substances, health hazards, <br /> or safety hazards; their supervisors; and the management responsible for the site must <br /> receive training before they are permitted to engage in hazardous waste operations that <br /> could expose them to hazardous substances or to safety or health hazards. Employees will <br /> not be permitted to participate in or supervise field activities until they have been trained <br /> to a level required by their job function and responsibility. <br /> Training Requirements <br /> McCollum's Excavating will provide the following additional training as appropriate to <br /> enable personnel to safely perform assigned functions: <br /> Contractor/Vendor Orientation - general safety information and safety information <br /> specific to the project site operations <br /> BEC Mine Closure Project August 8, 2022 <br />
