Such payment will be
considered full compensation for all labor, materials, equipment, and all other items necessary
and incidental to the completion of this bid item.
ITEM 6.0 PURCHASE AND DELIVER COMPOST
This item includes purchasing and delivering compost to the project area. The CONTRACTOR
will procure 1,200 cubic yards of screened compost from a provider that is approved by the
Project Manager prior to acquiring and delivering the compost. Compost must be Class A and
weed free as evidenced by provider documentation.
Measurement and Payment
Measurement will be made at the unit price established in Item 6.0 of the Bid Schedule.
Measurement for payment will be made per cubic yard of compost purchased and delivered
estimated at 1,200 cubic yards. Organic material
consists of dredged material from ponds. The location of the organic material is marked in orange
on the Berm and Grade Map. Compost must be purchased and delivered to the site in Item 6.0.
Compost must be Class A and be weed free.
Prior to incorporating the organic material and compost into the ground, both materials must be
spread across the site evenly to ensure consistent mixing. A total of 1,200 cubic yards of
compost will be spread evenly over the entire 2 acre area including the graded site and the berm.
After placement of the compost, approximately 500 cubic yards of organic material will be
pulverized with an excavator or tracked machine and be evenly spread across the 2.0 acre area.
Once evenly spread, the organic material and the compost will be thoroughly incorporated into
the top 12 inches of graded ground with an excavator bucket. The final grade must maintain the
grade achieved in Item 5.0 to allow positive drainage towards the storm water pond.
Following the mixing of organic material and compost into the ground, the entire area will require
machine compaction. A single pass of a tracked skid steer or approved equivalent is acceptable.
See Berm and Grade Map.
7/23/23
