The Operator considers weed management to be an on-going process where the outcome of
control efforts may vary and adaptations to the weed management plan may be necessary. The
steps to this adaptive management process are:
1. Weed species are identified through inventory of the property and by gathering
information from other sources.
2. Land management goals and weed management objectives are established for the
property.
3. Priorities are assigned to the weed species and weed patches based on the severity of their
impact, while considering the ability to control them.
4. Methods are considered for controlling high priority species and infestations, or
otherwise reducing their impact. If necessary, the priorities are re-ordered based on likely
impacts of control actions on the target and non-target species.
5. A weed management plan is developed based on this information.
6. The weed management plan is implemented in the spring or fall as recommended by the
CSU Cooperative Extension local office.
7. The results of management actions are monitored and evaluated while considering the
weed management objectives for the management area.
8. This information is used to modify and improve weed management objectives, control
priorities, and the weed management plan, thereby starting the cycle again.
The premise behind a weed management plan is that a structured, logical approach to weed
management, based on the best available information, is cheaper and more effective than an ad-
hoc approach where one deals with weed problems as they arise.
3.0 NOXIOUS WEEDS TO BE WATCHED FOR AT THE EDMUNDSON CLAY MINE.
This is a list of noxious weeds known to have populations in Pueblo County or Huerfano County
List A weeds
1.
