Exhibit I / J — SOILS & VEGETATION INFORMATION
The following information is presented to supplement the information from the original 110 permit
submittal.
SOILS
The soil designation information provided in the 1985 permit application was changed by the NRCS since
submitted and some of the soils names have changed. New data is supplied in the following pages
covering the existing area and all of the new area. Additionally, a copy of the 1985 Soil Conservation
Service report is included for review.
VEGETATION
The vegetation described in the original application is common for the entire area. The Custom Soil
Resource Report detailed in the NRCS download describes the typical types and species found on the
site for any soils group. And again, a copy of the 1985 Soil Conservation Service report is included for
review.
The vegetation map was prepared from air photos and named with the type of vegetation present in
those areas. Minimal site visitation was done so the information is not site specific. The typical
vegetation information in the report is used to define the vegetation areas. Map Exhibit J-1 Vegetation
shows the location of the following described areas.
The Grass area is mostly on flatter areas associated with open grassland areas on the site and is covered
with soil type AV. The vegetation in this area is dominated by grasses with very little trees, with 80%
grass, 10%shrubs and brush, and 5% cacti.
The Canyon area is mostly in the steeper draws and canyons associated with the drainages that cross
the site and is covered with soil type TsD. The vegetation in this area is dominated by grasses, however,
some trees are present. The vegetation makeup in these areas is 93%grass and 7%trees and shrubs.
Most of these areas remain undisturbed since there was little or no clay associated with the rocky
channels.
13
SUMMIT BRICK AND TILE COMPANY- EDMUNDSON CLAY MINE NOVEMBER 2023
