The approved post mining land use is rangeland. Please see the original plan and adequacy responses
and any approved revisions for details on the approved reclamation requirements.
The site is in final reclamation with all grading and earthwork having been completed. Topsoil was
replaced at a maximum depth of 3"to S". The site has been re-seeded,with some areas being fully
revegetated. Disturbed areas that are not fully revegetated will be re-seeded with the originally
approved seed mix and monitored for success.
Access roads will be left as these are existing ranch roads used by the landowners. Any haul roads
across the pit area have been reclaimed and reseeded. All other access roads will remain to ensure the
owner's access and to be used for the continued supervision and inspection of the reclamation.
All refuse and scrap not owned by the landowner will be hauled away or disposed of in a manner that
will control unsightliness and protect the drainage system from pollution. There are no acid-forming or
toxic materials involved with the operation.
Reseeding will be done on disturbed areas that are not fully revegetated. The reseeded area will be
monitored for success of revegetation until accepted by the Division for release. If revegetation failures
occur prior to release,an analysis of the site will be made, and the area will be revegetated again as
necessary.
No trees or shrubs will be planted as we expect natural invasion of those species to occur and no trees
or shrubs were included in the approved revegetation plan.
WEED CONTROL
The revegetated areas will be monitored closely each spring to determine if weeds are invading the
area. The Weed Control Plan is supplied in the Appendix of this packet to address weed control at the
mine. Total eradication of weeds from the site is not necessarily desirable,so the operator will be using
controls on the noxious weeds and letting the rest grow in select areas.
RECLAMATION TIMETABLE
The site is under final reclamation. It is estimated that reclamation will take 2 to 3 years to complete.
7
SUMMIT BRICK AND TILE COMPANY-EDMUNDSON CLAY MINE NOVEMBER 2023
