Exhibit E - RECLAMATION PLAN
EXISTING RECLAMATION PLAN
As stated in the Mining Plan (Exhibit B) and the SCS report(Exhibit D), topsoil is practically non-existent
except for small pockets which will be segregated and stockpiled for replacement in reclamation. The
caprock, after it is ripped and/or shot, plus dozer movement over it,will be broken down into
comparatively small sizes enhancing reclamation potential.
The pit perimeters will feather to existing contours except on the southeast boundary. This portion will
be backsloped at 3H:1V. The flat pit floor will feather into adjacent topography with slopes of 3H:1V on
the east and 6H:1V on the west. A highwall not greater than eight feet may be left after the site is
backfilled to a 3H:1V slope. Available topsoil will be replaced on the pit floor and backslopes. It is
anticipated that maximum topsoil for replacement over the affected area will be 3"to 5".
The following SCS recommended seed mix will be used:
Seed Mix
Species Variety Mix% Pounds Pure Live
Seed/Acre
Sideoats grama Vaughn or Niner 30% 2.7
Blue grama Lovington or Hachita 20% 0.6
Sand dropseed 10% 0.1
Little bluestem Pastura 10% 0.7
Western Wheatgrass Arriba or Barton 30% 4.8
TOTALS 100% 8.9
Note:#/A PLS rate is for drilled.
The seed will probably be broadcast, in which case the seeding rate will be doubled.
The Soil Conservation Service recommends that mulch be applied at the rate of 4,000# per disturbed
acre. Additionally, they recommend that 40lbs per acre of available nitrogen and 40lbs per acre of
phosphoric acid be applied to disturbed areas. SCS recommends supplemental irrigation in the first 2
growing seasons if it is available. There is no water available any place close to this site.
PROPOSED CHANGES
Unless specifically discussed below, the reclamation methods described and approved in the existing
110 permit will remain unchanged. The following text explains the changes to the reclamation plan as
proposed in this conversion application.
6
SUMMIT BRICK AND TILE COMPANY- EDMUNDSON CLAY MINE NOVEMBER 2023
