STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN MORRISON QUARRY
REVISION NO.8 1 August 2022 CERTIFICATION NO.COG500320
When adverse weather conditions (flooding, high winds, or electrical storms) prevent
sampling from occurring, the facility must take a substitute sample during the next
qualifying storm event.
6.2 VISUAL MONITORING EVALUATION
Once each quarter, the facility will collect a stormwater sample from each outfall and
conduct a visual assessment of each of these samples. The samples shall be collected in
a manner that is representative of the stormwater discharge. Samples must be collected
in a clean, clear glass or plastic container and examined in a well-lit area. The sample
will be visually inspected for the presence of the following water quality characteristics:
• Color • Odor
• Clarity • Floating solids
• Settled solids • Suspended solids
• Foam • Oil sheen
• Other obvious indicators of storm water pollution
Quarterly monitoring must be conducted at least once in each of the following 3-month
intervals:
• January 1 - March 31 • April 1 -June 30
• July 1 -September 30 • October 1 - December 31
The visual monitoring results must be documented and retained in the facility's
Stormwater Binder in Appendix F. This document does not have to be submitted to the
WQCD, unless the Division specifically requests to do so. Visual documentation must
include:
• Sample location(s);
• Sample collection date and time, and visual assessment date and time for each
sample;
• Personnel collecting the sample and performing the visual assessment, and their
signatures;
• Nature of the discharge (i.e. runoff or snowmelt);
o Date, time of the start of the discharge, duration (in hours) of the rainfall event,
magnitude (in inches) of the storm event sampled, and duration between the
24
