STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN MORRISON QUARRY
REVISION NO.8 1 August 2022 CERTIFICATION NO.COG500320
4. CONTROL MEASURES
This section describes stormwater discharge control measures. Table 2 provides a summary of
control measures implemented at each of the facility areas defined in Section 3.
Stormwater discharge control measures include both structural and non-structural.The purpose
of control measures implemented at the facility is to minimize or reduce the discharge of
pollutants in regulated stormwater discharges from the facility. Non-structural control measures
are referred to in the plan as a Best Management Practice (BMP). Structural controls and BMPs
applicable to this facility are described in the following sections.
4.1 MINIMIZE EXPOSURE
This facility minimizes exposure by storing materials including fuels and equipment in
containers and inside buildings when practical.
4.2 GOOD HOUSEKEEPING
Good housekeeping practices are intended to maintain overall order and cleanliness,
reduce the contact of potential pollutants with precipitation, and reduce the likelihood
of release of pollutants to runoff waters. The general permit requires general good
housekeeping BMPs and industry sector specific BMPs. Industry sector-specific BMPs are
recommended for vehicles and equipment storage areas, fueling areas, material
storage areas, vehicle and equipment cleaning areas, vehicle and equipment
maintenance areas. Upon review of the recommendations the following BMPs were
selected for implementation at the facility:
• Pick up and dispose of loose materials, scraps, trash;
• Regularly clean or sweep paved areas;
• Minimize and recycle non-usable materials;
• Use waste collection containers for non-regulated wastes;
• Keep outdoor equipment clean;
• Clean up areas of spills or leaks;
• Use dry materials for cleanup of liquids; and
• Properly recycle wastewater.
17
