STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN MORRISON QUARRY
REVISION NO.8 1 August 2022 CERTIFICATION NO.COG500320
Fugitive dust emissions shall be controlled with the use of a water truck spraying the
haul roads on a daily basis or more if needed. When conditions required, chemical
suppressants shall be used on the facility's yard and haul roads to control fugitive dust
emissions. Invoices shall be kept from these activities in the Stormwater Binder in
Appendix K as a reference log.
Note: The use of chemical suppressants requires the notification and approval from
the Water Quality Control Division (WQCD).
3.1.8 HAUL ROADS
Material is loaded into haul trucks in the active mining area (see section 3.1 .7). These
haul trucks use the haul roads to move the material. The potential pollutants
associated with haul roads include sediment from the haul roads in the active mine
areas.
There is moderate potential for pollutants to enter stormwater since some erosion
occurs along the sides of haul roads. However, the site constructs check dams as
necessary to reduce erosion from haul roads and active mining areas. Additionally,
most stormwater is directed to the retention basin before being discharge offsite.
3.1.9 ONSITE WASTE STORAGE
Waste for the facility is placed in dumpsters located throughout the site. These
containers are emptied on a routine basis. There is minimal potential for pollution to
contaminate stormwater from these containers. Any waste produced from shop
maintenance is contained within the shop until a vendor can pick up the waste. There
is low potential for onsite waste storage to impact stormwater.
3.1.10 ROOF AREAS
There is minimal potential for pollutants associated with galvanized materials (gutters,
downspouts, ducts, and heating/air conditioning equipment) to be mobilized by
stormwater.
3.1.11 ILLICIT PLUMPING
The preparer of the SWMP and the facility are not aware of any illicit plumbing
connections to stormwater conveyance.
3.2 SIGNIFICANT SPILLS AND/OR LEAKS
The preparer of the SWMP and the facility are not aware of any significant spills or leaks
within the past three years.
16
