September 6, 2023 C-1981-038/Bowie No. 1 Mine RDZ <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1 <br /> <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />The ponds at the loadout, the Coal Storage Area (at the highway, near Black Bridge Road), and the West Mine <br />were dry, and no problems were identified with these ponds. <br /> <br />Armored drainage channels at the East Mine were stable. <br /> <br />The irrigation ditch that flows under the loadout via a very long culvert (the Farmers Ditch) was approximately <br />half full of water (measured at the culvert). Significant flow was also seen in the culvert and ditch that daylights <br />south of the substation. No issues were identified with these surface water structures at the loadout. <br /> <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3), Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and <br />(6)/4.03.2(5) and (6), Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br />No problems were seen with the road to the reclaimed ROM area or other roads. <br /> <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br />No erosion was seen at the reclaimed areas of the East Mine that are included in the SL-09 application: <br /> The main area along the haul road and around the old portal <br /> The RDA <br /> The Old Waste Disposal Area. <br /> <br />No erosion was seen at the reclaimed areas that are not included in the SL-09 application: <br /> The drainage where the reclaimed ponds (Ponds 1 – 4) are located <br /> The West Mine, including the West Mine fan area (which is approximately a quarter mile north of the <br />main West Mine area) <br /> The loadout. <br /> <br />The following reclaimed pads for drill holes were inspected: <br /> B-1, B-2, B-3, B-4, B-6, B-8 <br /> DH-37, DH-38, DH-39, DH-40, DH-82.
