Use this form in conjunction with the
Management Data Form. Call OAHP staff (303-866-5216) prior to assigning a resource number.

I. Resource Identification
1. Resource Number: 5MF.5138.10 2. Temporary Resource Number: GRI #2023-11
3. Site Name: State Highway 13
4. Record of: Entire resource Segment
II. Resource Description
5. Resource Type: Road Railroad Trail Ditch/Canal
Other (specify):
6. Component Description:

Segment 5MF.5138.10 is a 300 meter long section of the old highway alignment that is within the present
inventory area for a proposed mining tract. The roadway in this area has been abandoned as a State highway, which
has been realigned to the west. The north 75 meters of the segment recorded is now a portion of a County road
(107W) that ends at a modern metal gate. The County road is only extant north of the gate and has been graveled.
South of the gate a new east-west mining road crosses the segment alignment. From this new road, and headed south,
the historic highway has been reclaimed. Additionally, approximately 45m south of this modern road lies an old
galvanized 2-foot diameter culvert with concrete abutments, a remnant feature of the old highway (Plate 3). The 48 feet
of corrugated pipe extends 4-feet to either side of the old road base (40' wide). The concrete abutments measure 90"
long by 36" (estimated) tall by 8" wide, and encase the 24"diameter end of the corrugated pipe.
7. Original use: Wagon road/trail
8. Current use: None (segment has been reclaimed).

9. Modifications (describe and include dates): The north portion of the road segment has been recently graveled
and is now a county road. The south portion has been reclaimed and is presently grass covered. There is a new
mining road that bisects these two portions of the segment, west to east. It is unknown when these changes took
place.
10. Extent of Entire Resource: State Highway 13 is 204. 4 km (127 mi) long, from the Wyoming state line south to the
Interstate 70 intersection at Rifle.
11. Associated Artifacts: None
12. Associated Features or Resources: An old culvert is the single extant feature within this segment. It consists of
a galvanized 2-foot diameter culvert with concrete abutments, a remnant feature of the old highway (plate below).
48 feet of corrugated pipe extends 4-feet to either side of the old road base (40' wide). The concrete abutments
measure 90" long by 36" (estimated) tall by 8" wide and encase the 24"diameter end of the corrugated pipe.
