Field QA/QC samples include
duplicates, blind duplicates, field blanks, and equipment blanks that are submitted to the laboratory along with
field samples. Duplicates, field blanks, and equipment blanks are collected in the field. Blind duplicates, as the
name suggests, is a duplicate sample that is named differently, so it is"blind" to the laboratory. Blind duplicate
samples are submitted for analysis with a composition and identity known to the submitter but unknown to
the analyst and used to test the analyst's or laboratory's proficiency in the execution of the measurement
process.
Blind duplicate and decontamination rinse water samples (equipment blanks) will be collected as part of the
Vista Del Rio Subdivision soil sample QA/QC process.
2.0 Safety
Site-specific and/or project specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP) should be followed, if available. Otherwise,
the Pinyon HASP should be followed. Field personnel should be aware of other Site activities with may be
occurring within the area of sampling. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety
glasses and gloves, should be worn during sample collection.
3.0 Equipment
The equipment required for collecting field QA/QC samples is consistent with equipment required for
collecting the field samples. This can include pumps, tubing, and spoons/trowels. Additional sets of bottles
must be requested from the laboratory for any field QA/QC samples.
Field Sampling QA/QC
December 23, 2022
Page I of 3
