Rifle Gravel Pit #1 Juiy 2023 <br /> Final grading of the site is depicted in Figure 15, Exhibit F1 and Figure 16, Exhibit F2. <br /> GPS equipment will be used to verify that the slopes will be no steeper than a 3:1 slope, 5 <br /> feet above the water and 10 feet below the expected water line. Figure 15 shows the <br /> anticipated grading for reclamation, while Figure 16 uses shading and hatching without the <br /> contours to depict the final conditions. Typical sections are also provided in Figure 11, <br /> Exhibit C6. <br /> The pond that will develop within the excavation area is planned to be the final condition for <br /> that portion of the site. There are no natural surface drainages that intersect the pond area, <br /> and conveyance of ephemeral flows in the vicinity will be unaffected. The Last Chance Ditch <br /> Tailwater Channel will continue to discharge into the pond, as previously described (Section <br /> 5.2.3.3). <br /> 6.3.3 Seeding <br /> There are different types of seed mixes to support stabilization and reclamation of the <br /> upland and wetland portions of the site. Figure 14, Exhibit E1 provides specific information <br /> regarding the seed mixes and the locations and extent where the seed mixes will be applied. <br /> Scott commits to decompacting all affected lands prior to topsoil application and seeding per <br /> Rule 6.4.5(2)(d). The temporarily disturbed areas outside and on the berms will be <br /> decompacted with a tractor and disc, as needed. The greenbelt will be decompacted using <br /> an excavator. <br /> 6.3.3.1 Temporary Seed Mix <br /> A specific temporary seed mix is not proposed at the site. Stripped topsoil will be used to <br /> construct the perimeter berms. Stabilization will be performed immediately, including <br /> spreading and crimping mulch, with the final upland seeding applied as soon as seasonal <br /> conditions are appropriate. No interim reclamation is proposed that would require a <br /> temporary seed mix. All disturbed areas will proceed directly to final reclamation. As <br /> described, the upland seed mix (minus the locally-collected rabbitbrush shrub component as <br /> described in Section 6.1.1.2.) will also be used to stabilize the topsoil stockpile that will be <br /> retained for use in final reclamation of the greenbelt and sold during the 60% to 100% <br /> mining phases. <br /> 6.3.3.2 Permanent Upland Seed Mix <br /> Figure 14, Exhibit E1 provides detailed information regarding the upland seed mix <br /> proposed including form (bunch, sod, etc.) and application rate. This upland seed mix will be <br /> applied to all berm areas, as well as to topsoil stored on the Operations Pad for subsequent <br /> use in final reclamation. Seeding should occur in the early spring or late fall to avoid seeds <br /> from germinating in the summer or early fall, and then either desiccating or freezing. <br /> 6.3.3.3 Wetland Seed Mix <br /> Figure 14, Exhibit E1 provides detailed information regarding wetland seed mix proposed <br /> including form (shrub, bunch, sod, etc.) and application rate. <br /> 6.3.4 Fertilization <br /> At this time supplemental fertilization is not anticipated to be necessary. <br /> 41 <br />
