Several sub-reclamation categories have been created through the various revisions.
Overall, the Division needs to know the total number of acres to become pond,
wetlands, upland, gravel and undisturbed. Within those categories provide the
number of acres by phase to receive various reclamation treatments.
7) Provide details for the reclamation of the "Slope Area".
This area has been redefined as the Berm Area and represents the area between
the toe of the berm and the greenbelt. The existing topography is variable
between the distance of the toe of the 3:1 to 5:1 transition slope across the site,
hence creating an estimated 3.57 acres that will need to be reclaimed
throughout Phase 3 and potentially during Phase 4 (noted as the Berm Area or
Berm to Greenbelt Area on Figure 14, Exhibit E1).
a) When (what phase) will initial reclamation take place? Phase 4 mentions half
of the 1.28 ac will receive incidental seeding/weed treatments.
This area will be reseeded with the upland mix, similar to the perimeter berm.
b) What is the topsoil volume area and storage location?
The topsoil stripped during Phase 1 will be stockpiled for use in reseeding and
revegetating throughout the mining, Phase 3 and Phase 4. The amount of topsoil
will vary.
c) What mix is used?
This area will be reseeded with the upland mix, similar to the perimeter berm.
8) Section 6.6.2. states no reclamation will occur outside of the perimeter berm
however Table 2 and Table 7 account for 1.5 acres requiring reclamation
(incidental seeding and weed treatments). When is initial seeding to take place?
This should be clarified within both the Mining and Reclamation Plans.
Upon further consideration, the area outside of the perimeter berm is not
expected to require active reclamation due to lack of surface disturbance.
Incidental seeding and/or weed treatment only, no measureable acreage or
treatment cost when combined with contemporaneous berm reclamation. Table 2
has been updated to reflect that any incidental seeding will occur during Phase
1, if needed.
9) A temporary seed mix is referenced several times in the Mining and Reclamation
Plans, however section 6.3.3.1 explicitly states that no temporary seed mix will
be used. Please update for consistency between exhibits. Per section 6.1.1.2 the
