• The substation shown on Map M13A is a permanent one and not scheduled for removal until the coal
reserves are exhausted. All electrical power for the minesite is brought through this substation.
Trapper Mine uses four different pole structures; flat top, stacked, switch, and tangent. These structures
are shown in detail in Figures 3.8-1 through 3.8-8. None of these structures presents a hazard to
raptors, as explained in Section 4.6.2.4.
Utilities in Mine Facilities Complex:
The powerlines, gas lines, telephone lines, water lines, compressed air lines, and sewer lines in the mine
facilities complex were installed to meet State and local codes. The power lines are 440 V. except for the
main feeder from the substation which is 6,900 V. The compressed air lines and gas lines are steel
and/or plastic. Water lines are plastic or copper. The sewer lines are tile. The waste water facilities are
discussed in Section 4.3.
Most of these utilities were installed when the Office and Shop/Warehouse were built in 1975 and 1976.
The equipment start-up lines were installed in 1979, as were the lines to the fuel and lube building.
These utilities are not scheduled for removal until the coal reserves are exhausted.
3-185 ! !
