May 24, 2023 C-1982-057/Seneca II-W Mine RAR <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 4 <br /> <br /> Page 3 of 13 <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE- Rule 4.05 <br />General Requirements 4.05.1; Effluent Standards 4.05.2; Divergence and Conveyance of Overland Flow <br />4.05.3; Diversions 4.05.4; Sediment Control Measures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7; <br />Impoundments 4.05.9; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Underground Mine Entry 4.05.10; Surface <br />and Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13;Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br /> <br />Ponds and stock tanks held water, and ponds visited were discharging at the time of inspection. Pond <br />banks and dam outslopes were in good repair and well vegetated. Flumes were functioning as designed <br />with exceptions noted below. <br /> <br />o Ponds 6, held clear water and was discharging at the time of inspection. <br />o Pond 16 was discharging clear water. The water appeared murky in the pond and was <br />discharging clear at approximately 150 gallons per minute (gpm). Water was observed to be <br />flowing under flume. A bentonite fix when discharge subsides is recommended. <br /> 3 hotos <br />o Pond17, held twater and was discharging clear water at time of inspection. Water was flowing <br />under the flume. <br /> 3 photos at 12:23 pm <br />Phase I from pond 6 past shop up hill <br /> <br />SLIDES and OTHER DAMAGE- Rule 4.12 <br />No recent slumping was observed. <br /> <br />REVEGETATION - Rule 4.15 <br />Perennial vegetation appeared verdant and robust. Shrubs and tree foliage appeared mostly leafed outand <br />had flowered. Some gambrel oak exhibited dead limbs. Vegetation is well established and mature <br />throughout the site with a minimum of weeds observed. <br /> <br />FISH and WILDLIFE– RULE 4.18 <br />Wildlife is often observed throughout the Seneca IIW mine site. Wildlife observed comprised a variety of <br />raptors and waterfowl on the ponds. <br /> <br />DOCUMENTS RECEIVED <br />None <br /> <br />INSPECTIONS 5.02; Availability of Records <br />Permit documents were not inspected. <br /> <br />DOCUMENTS RECEIVED <br />None <br /> <br />OTHER (SPECIFY) <br />ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE <br />No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending. <br /> <br />
