This was based on a very conservative
approach where cross-country overland travel for a temporary access road to a drill pad was calculated
at 100%disturbance. For example,if a proposed cross-country road is to be 200 feet long, then the
surface disturbance was estimated at 200 ft x a 10 ft width,or a disturbance of 2,000 (0.046ac). A
subsequent discussion in the field between myself and Ryan Joyner,BLM Tres Rios Assistant
Manager for Land and Minerals on this NOI,indicated that they thought this approach was unrealistic.
They felt that the 100%approach was appropriate for where mechanized equipment dropped a blade or
used a bucket to create accessways, and that a 30%disturbance factor was more suitable for overland
travel.
Given that the terrain at the Ground Hog Project Area is suitable for cross-country travel to most of the
proposed drill pads, Standard Minerals would like to propose a reduction in estimated disturbance
calculations from 0. 70 acres to 0.50 acres. Please see Table 1 and Figure 1 below. For consistency,
all drill pads are considered to be 100%disturbed.
