s
28a-Lymanson Taxadjunct gravelly sandy loam, 0 to 9 percent slopes.
This moderately deep well drained soil occurs on broad flat ridgetops.
It formed in sandstone. Slopes are plane to slightly convex. This
area is irregular in shape and 40 acres in size. The vegetation is
mainly shrubs, forbs and grasses, Elevation ranges from 7670 to 7700
feet. The average annual precipitation is about 14 inches and the
mean annual air temperature is about 41°F.
Typically the surface layer is very dark grayish brown gravelly

sandy loam about 13 inches thick. The subsoil is yellowish brown
gravelly sandy clay loam about 14 inches thick which is immediately
underlain by a paralithic contact of sandstone at 27 inches.
Included in mapping are about 10 percent Lymanson soils, 5 percent
Cochetopa and 5 percent Skylick soils.
Permeability of this Lymanson Taxadjunct soil is moderate as is
available water capacity. Effective rooting depth is about 27 inches.
Runoff is medium and hazard of erosion by water is slight. The hazard of
wind erosion is slight to moderate.
These soils are used for grazing and wildlife habitat.
The soils of this mapping unit provide a good to fair source of

topsoil to an average depth of 27 inches. Approximately 15 percent
gravels throughout the profile and firm moist consistencies in
subsurface horizons are the main limitations.
2-302
