EXHIBIT J—VEGETATION INFORMATION
(1) Operator/Applicant shall include in this Exhibit a narrative of the following:
(a) The affected area is classified as Colby-Satanta Complex, 5-12 percent slopes,
Bankard-Glenberg Complex, 0-3 percent slopes, Sampson Loam, 0-2 percent slopes,
Satanta Loam, 0-3 percent slopes and Goshen Silt Loam. The most abundant species
of vegetation inhabiting the affected area are Big Bluestem(8"mature height), Little
Bluestem (12"-36"tall), Blue Grama(24"-36""tall), Western Wheatgrass (12"-36"
tall), and native vegetation of short and mid prairie grasses.
(b) According to the NRCS web data, the potential plant community on the soil is mainly
blue grama, little bluestem, Little Bluestem, and prairie grasses.
(c) The estimates of carrying capacity for rangelands in the area has many factors to
calculate based on forage yield, which depends a lot on precipitation and soil
efficiency. Carrying capacity also depends on harvest efficiency and average
livestock weight. Based on rangelands in the area, carrying capacity is estimated at
1.2 animal unit equivalent per acre. According to the NRCS, the average annual
production of air-dry vegetation ranges from 400-1300 pounds per acre for this soil
unit. This soil unit is not considered prime farmland by the NRCS.
(2) The Exhibit I NRCS data map shows the relation of the types of soil vegetation
existing in the topography of the Exhibit C map.
J-1
