The disturbed areas will be reclaimed when there is no longer potential for further
disturbance from adjacent mining operations so their areal extents will probably vary.
The temporary stormwater controls will be maintained in all disturbed areas until
revegetation is completed and the closure requirements are fulfilled.
(e) An approximate timetable to describe the mining operation
(i) Mining of the sand and gravel deposit is scheduled to commence
approximately July 1, 2023 or once application is approved with the Division
of Reclamation, Mining and Safety and end approximately July 1, 2033 or
later if pit resources are still available. This proposed pit is intended to be an
intermittent operation as defined in C.R.S. 34-32.5-103(11)(b) since
construction material reserves will not be mined for more than 180 days per
year. Measures will be taken to comply with reclamation and other necessary
activities as established by the board to maintain the operation within
compliance of the Division rules.
(ii) An approximate 1-2 acreage size will be worked each year. Mining activity
will commence near the southern middle of the mining site and move towards
the north.
(iii) As acres of disturbed area are affected, reclamation of the disturbed area will
begin to prevent topsoil damage and erosion control. There will be constant
monitoring of slopes and surface conditions throughout each phase of mining.
The mined resources will be transported off-site as they are needed, which is
expected to vary. Mining will continue until the gravel resources are depleted.
A timetable is not included since the rate of use of the resources is dependent
on County needs.
(f) Nature, depth and thickness of the deposit to be mined and the type of
overburden to be removed and stratum
(i) The deposits are relatively uniform as described in Exhibit J. The excavation
thickness will be up to approximately 30-feet. The overburden is limited to the
topsoil's that will be removed and stockpiled for reuse during the reclamation
process.
(ii) The nature of the stratum immediately beneath the material to be mined in
sedimentary deposits is consistent in each layer. The layers consist mostly of
gravel that are not too sandy, but not too rocky to apply directly to County
Road surfaces.
D-2
