acres of Redlands Parkway ROW, approximately 22.5 acres were surveyed for wetland
attributes. The project site is located in the northwest '/4 of the northwest '/4 of Section 8,
Township 1 South, Range 1 West, Ute Principal Meridian(Appendix A, Figure 1).
SECTION 3. Methods
WestWater scientists performed the aquatic resource delineation on October 8 and 23, 2020 and
October 28, 2021 on site wetlands fringing the north main lake, connected western channel, and
southern saline wetland within the survey area encompassing the triangle polygon with the SE
corner at 39.0875867545 N, -108.621898523 Wand NW corner at 39.0919379333 N,
-108.627460914 W. Vegetation in upland and wetland areas (Figure 2 and Figures 2a-2e) was
determined through field identification of the plants. Site soils were described in the field using
macroscopic and tactile methods. The NRCS mapped two non-hydric soil units, Green River
silty clay loam and Bebeevar and Green River alluvial soils, and Riverwash (Appendix B,Figure
3).
Prior to visiting the site, a literature review was conducted for the survey area and included the
following information(Appendix B):
• Soil types produced by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (MRCS) (MRCS
2020); Figure 3
• Cowardin classification(Cowardin et. al. 1979)of waters of the U.S (WOUS)using the
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)National Wetland Inventory (NWI) (USFWS
2020); Figure 4
• 100-year flood zone locations determined by Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) (FEMA, 2020); Figure 5
• Identification of waterbodies in the immediate vicinity including perennial, intermittent,
and ephemeral streams using U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps (USGS 2020);
• Available current and historic aerial imagery.
The wetland boundaries were identified on the basis of the vegetation, soils, and hydrologic
characteristics present at the site in accordance with ACOE standards included in the"Corps of
Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual, January 1987" (ACOE 1987) and Regional Supplement
to the ACOE Wetland Delineation Manual: Arid West Region(Version 2.0, September 2008)
(ACOE 2008). Photographs of the site are included in Appendix C.
The wetland boundary delineation included identification of plant species, species composition,
and soil structure. Wetland indicator status for plant species was verified using the National
Wetland Plant List(ACOE 2016)to determine areas dominated by hydrophytic vegetation. Plant
species identified within the survey area are found in Appendix C. Soil pits(24 f in. deep)were
dug with a shovel for observation of wetland soil characteristics and hydrology indicators to aid
in the delineation of wetland boundaries. Wetland boundary points were marked in the field and
located using a Spectra SP20 GPS Receiver with sub-meter accuracy. Open water and wetland
fringe boundary point latitude/longitude locations are listed in Appendix E.
23'/4 Road Gravel Pit Page 2 of 8 December 2021
Aquatic Resource Delineation Report WestWater Engineering
