PERMIT#:M-2000-049
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS:DMC
INSPECTION DATE:June 23,2022
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted as part of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (Division) normal
monitoring program. A representative for the Operator was not present. Photographs are included with this report
in order to illustrate some of the conditions observed.
The Angie Pit is located approximately one mile southeast of Redvale and accessed from 3575 Road. The site is
a 112c operation that includes a total of 154 permitted acres. The Division currently holds a financial warranty
amount of$103,365.00 for this site.
Adequate mine identification signage was noted at the entrance to the site.
The affected area was marked by posts and fencing that were clearly visible and adequate to delineate the affected
area boundary.
A scalehouse, washout area and stored equipment are located in the north part of the permit area near the site
entrance. The area is maintained and orderly. Small patches of knapweed were observed around this area that
will need to be treated.
Mining is currently taking place in the Phase 1 area in the south part of the permit area. A wash pond, batch plant,
crusher and conveyors are located in the Phase 1 area. Materials stockpiles are located throughout the pit floor.
During the Division's May 2019 inspection the operator stated that they were pursuing an agreement with the
adjacent landowner that would allow the highwall separating the south end of the Angie Pit from the north end of
the adjacent Allen Pit(M-2002-094)to be mined out in order to combine the two pits, both of which are operated
by the same Operator. The currently approved Reclamation Plan requires that the highwall be backfilled to
2.5H:IV. The Operator will need to submit a Technical Revision for the permit in order to address this
change to the Mine Plan and associated change to the Reclamation Plan. This has been noted as a problem.
No other problems or violations were noted during this inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Dustin Czapla at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, 1313 Sherman Street Room 215,Denver, Colorado, 80203,phone number(303) 866-3567,ext. 8188.
