Both ponds were inspected from the highway for safety reasons. Each pond was snow covered and stable. Water
level and discharge of the ponds could not be observed.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
Due to the weather conditions, part of the inspection was discussing the approved mining progression at the
Colowyo Mine.As stated by the Mine representative, highwall mining operations have moved from the Little
Collom Gulch area and are now within the South Taylor Pit along the western highwall of the pit. Once highwall
mining is finished at the South Taylor Pit,it will again move back to the main Collom Pit area and then back to the
Little Collom Gulch area.
All dragline operations have been completed in the South Taylor Pit. The dragline is currently staged at the West
Pit in preparation for it to be moved. Currently, the dragline is scheduled to be hauled to the Collom Pit this spring
or summer. The dragline will be used to remove overburden at a portion of the Collom Pit and contemporaneously
backfill the previously mined sections of the pit.
SIGNS AND MARKERS—Rule 4.02:
Mine identification sign along the Mine's security entrance was inspected. The sign contained all information for
compliance.
