TASK 5 Topsoil Placement <br /> Due to limitations in available topsoil , the CONTRACTOR will distribute <br /> topsoil material from PILE B over the areas listed below and according to <br /> the following priority schedule: <br /> 1 ) "Footprint" of removed coal spoil piles (3.07 acres) <br /> 2) Reclaimed strip-pits (5.1 acres) <br /> No topsoil material will be placed in drainage channels. The current <br /> estimated volume of topsoil on-site (PILE B) is 8,000 "in place" cubic <br /> yards. Priority 1 areas shall be topsoil ed to a depth of 12 inches. <br /> The remaining topsoil will be evenly distributed on Priority 2 sites. <br /> b) Measurement and Payment <br /> There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be <br /> reflected in a lump sum bid under Item 5 of the Bid Schedule. Payment <br /> for topsoil placement will be as the work is completed and approved by <br /> the PROJECT MANAGER. All costs for this task shall be reflected in this <br /> or other Bid Items or shall be paid at the CONTRACTORS expense. <br /> TASK 6 Revegetation <br /> Revegetation of all areas disturbed during the course of this project is <br /> required. This item includes disking. harrowing, fertilizing, drill <br /> seeding, mulching and crimping mulch at the strip pit site, according to <br /> the following revegetation specifications. The seed will be supplied by <br /> the OWNER, but all other materials, equipment, and labor needed to <br /> complete this work shall be provided by the CONTRACTOR. A seed drill <br /> shall be used to plant the seed, and all drill seeding and mulch crimping <br /> shall be performed along the contour of the slope. <br /> Revegetation shall be performed between October 1 and 31 . 1991 . The <br /> Contractor shall give the Project Manager five (5) days notice before <br /> commencing revegetation operations. <br /> MATERIALS <br /> Seed <br /> A Pinon-Juniper seed mix will be provided by the OWNER. The CONTRACTOR <br /> must give the PROJECT MANAGER at least five (5) working days' notice, so <br /> the PROJECT MANAGER can deliver the seed. <br /> Fertilizers <br /> Fertilizers shall be commercial grade diammonium phosphate (18-46-0) and <br /> free flowing, suitable for application with hydraulic or pneumatic type <br /> equipment or fertilizer spreaders and conforming to applicable Colorado <br /> State Fertilizer laws. Caked or lumpy fertilizer will not be <br /> accepted. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish a supplier' s certificate of <br /> analysis and weight. All fertilizer shall be in a form readily <br /> available to plants. <br /> -10- <br />
