Colorado Inactive Mine Reclamation Program
CLOSEOUT REPORT
ACTIVE MINE BOND FORFEITURE PROJECTS
Permit Information
Permit Number Operator Name Mine Name
P-1980-104 Gimple Mike Beal Placer
Type of Mine— Surface Commodity Mined- Gold
PRE-RECLAMATION SITE CONDITIONS
The Beal Placer Mine is located on USFS managed land 1.5 miles west of the town of Alma in Park County, Colorado. The
site is adjacent to Buckskin Gulch, County Road 8. A prospecting Notice of Intent (NOI) was issued to Mike Gimple in 1980.
The prospecting NOI was revoked and the bond money forfeited in 2003. The site consists of miscellaneous mining debris,
two placer pits, large stockpiles south and east of the pits and a small topsoil stockpile. Pit 1 is approximately 0.06 acres in
size and Pit 2 is approximately 0.75 acres in size. A rare plant (Botrychium tunux) was identified by the USFS in 2008. The
plant is located along the old access road in Pit 2. The USFS required that the plant could not be impacted during
reclamation operations.
BIDDING/CONSTRUCTION INFORMATION
Type of Bid Documented Quote Purchase Order
(circle one) Formal - Bid as the
PO Number: Contractor Name &Address: Construction Bond Amount-$11,596.00
PKA-11-1195 Dates: Severance Tax- $2,446.00
Pridemore Construction, Inc. Work started in Pits 1 and 2 and
consisted of pushing a large stockpile of rock and dirt into the pits. Rocks in the pile ranged from 2 feet to 6 inches in
diameter. Not enough material was available to fill the pits to grade. A depression remains, but side slopes were blended
in with the surrounding area. The topsoil pile was used to cover the large rock as well as ditch cleaning material stockpiled
by the Town of Alma. Topsoil cover was spread to a depth of 2 to 4 inches. After topsoil was spread the area was seeded,
biosol was distributed and the area was mulched with two tons of certified weed free mulch per acre. A special seed mixture
was prescribed by the USFS consisting of native species. Miscellaneous mining trash and debris were hauled from the site.
Change Order#1- No additional costs were associated with this change order. Additional work was required at the Beal
Placer that was not previously noted in the scope of work. Equipment rental hours (10 hrs at$100.00/hr) was converted into
specific tasks including spreading the additional material stockpiled by the Town of Alma and spreading out the small
stockpiles west of Pit 2 and blending it in with the surrounding area. One additional acre of reclamation was required due to
the amount of disturbance. The project completion date was extended with an additional 3 days given the additional work.
A total of 3 acres were reclaimed. The total cost for this work was $14,582.00.The project was completed on 10/6/2010.
Remaining Reclamation Requirements and Estimated Cost:
There are no additional reclamation requirements for the Beal Placer Mine.
(-)(4,
Project Manager Senior Proj-•c ,1- anager
-- 0)1) i05/o
Date Date
