• <br /> Construction Work Description <br /> Horizon Environmental Services, Inc. completed seeding and weed mitigation on the Piedra Rock Products site during <br /> 2010, 2011 and 2012. Activities included herbicide applications, soil preparation, soil amendment incorporation, broadcast, <br /> drill and inter-seeding, and dry straw mulching. <br /> Herbicide treatments were made in the fall of 2010, the summer and fall of 2011, and the summer of 2012. The summer of <br /> 2012 treatment was minimal and the site was determined by Horizon Environmental Services to be weed free in 2012. In <br /> 2010 herbicide treatments were for Filed bindweed, redstem fillarie, musk thistle, Canada thistle, spotted knapweed, whorled <br /> milkweed,jointed goat grass, and yellow alyssum. The 2011 treatments were for the same species. 2012 treatments were <br /> only for Canada thistle. The noxious and invasive weed species were under control in 2012 and should be outcompeted by <br /> the seeded native grasses. Herbicide treatments were made from Backpack units and OHV units. The gallons of treatment <br /> herbicide ranged from 300 to 2.5 gallons. The provided seed was drilled and straw mulch was applied at two tons per <br /> acre and mechanically crimped into the seed bed. The site was estimated at 75% success in the fall of 2011. The spring <br /> and summer of 2012 did not provide the best growing conditions and success is estimated at 80% this fall.
